Which HP Movie is Your Favorite So Far?
See results without votingIt's the beginning of the end. Harry Potter has seriously become the Star Wars for this generation, and now that the first movie of the last book is out it's almost sad to see it end. The main actors of this film franchise have literally grown up on screen and grown into their parts as well. That's why I'll start out with the acting. It's hard not to laugh a little when I re-watch the first two movies in the Harry Potter series. The acting was pretty bad. Of course these kids really just came out of nowhere. They were unknowns and really young. I really couldn't get over how much they've improved over the years when I watched the latest installment. The Deathly Hallows is definitely the best acting out of all the movies so far. I loved it from the beginning. It doesn't start exactly like the book, but I love what he did with the storyline. It really showed that the kids had grown up and were getting ready to leave their families possibly forever. The humor that they added in the first part with Bill and Fleur was just like the book and helped to relieve the tension. The action was great at the beginning, then lagged in the middle, but started to pick up at the end, pretty much JUST like the book. I was really impressed with the casting at the Ministry. The adults that they picked to be their "ministry counterparts" did a really awesome job. I could tell they had studies the way the kids walk and their mannerisms.
If there is anything to complain about I'd have to say I wanted a little more with the house elves. Dobby was looking a little sickly compared to the second movie, and they didn't really go into depth with Kreacher's story. I love that part in the book. Kreacher's view of Harry, Ron, and Hermione really changes and he turns into a lovable character. You really miss a lot of that in the film. My other BIG beef with the movie was the Horcrux locket scene. Harry Potter is supposed to be a kid series and I think they went waaaaay over board with the uh... snogging. It was too much. I was disappointed to have to tell my oldest son to close his eyes in a Harry Potter movie.
One smaller character that stuck out for me was Bathilda Bagshoot. Could they have picked a creepier old woman?! Her look and acting was spot on. (Harry Potter always brings out the English in me.) I think they picked a perfect spot to end the movie. I don't feel totally upset about having to wait for the rest, but I'm still way excited to see how it turns out! What was your favorite part of the movie, and what (if any) part do you think they could have done better with?

I haven't seen The Deathly Hallows Part 1 yet but am looking forward to it. I loved all of the other films.
Horrible. And I'm huge fan. Yates's direction has made each film worse then the one before. I READ the book and was still confused- choppy, disjointed, no John Williams score,no haunting theme at beginning -- an action flick with lots of arguing and angst. No explanation, as to why they are getting nasty, when the book was quite clear about the locket's effect.
Scenes with wand fights that might as well have been cops and gangtas -- not magic or mystery, overacting --- Yates even used that stupid trick of dead silence and then "DA-DAH!" a snake or something pops up to scare you.
The best 2 films were Columbus's, full of magic and fun -- next was Newell's Goblet of Fire, also full of fantastic scenes with lots happening all over the screen. In this, the sound was bad, good lines understated, with bad ones loud and overly-dramatic; bad cinematography -- so dark it was hard to see much of the time.
And Hermione looked like a super model, skeletal and sophisticated with cleavage and tight designer jeans while the boys were suitably rumpled. The whole thing reminded me of a cheap horror film. UGH!
I am a hard core HP fan but I haven't watch HP7 movie yet. I will wait to next weekend so that I can enjoy my movie in a less noisy and less crowded place.
I did enjoy it, even though the first movie was EXACTLY like the book, it's understood that for the sake of time some had to be cut. Can't wait for part 2, but will certainly be sad to see it all end.... Will be lovely if JK Rowlings comes up with some more great characters!!
This was the greatest harry potter movie made it's so much better than the others.
I LOVED Harry Potter 7 Part 1!!! It was really good!! I think they did a good job of filling all the important parts of the book into the movie. I re-read all the Harry Potter books in the past 3 weeks or so and I think they got most of the info from the 7th book into the first part of the movie, so credit for the movie makers! Can't wait to see Part 2! I hope it's as good as the book, though there are sure to be some sad parts! Speaking of which, I'll be sad when Harry Potter is over for good! The books are done and the movies will be too soon! Well, it's been one great ride with Harry Potter (books and movies) so I hope it goes out with a bang! :)
I have to say I completely agree with you about the locket scene!! I was so shocked, I didn't even speak when my cousin (who hasn't read the books) said "OMG, isn't this a kids movie???" I could only sit there with my mouth hanging open! And people had their little kids there! Scary. I thought the scene with Hermione erasing herself from her parents lives was very touching and it really did show you the lengths they went to to prepare and to protect the ones they loved for when they were gone. I really enjoyed this movie, a lot more than I have the past few installments. I have high hopes for part two! Great hub, as always!
Hi MissE! I know, it's been so long since I was around. I'll message you with what's been going on with me..anyway, I agree that if they add things that help the story, I'm ok with that. If it's something ridiculous, I get angry lol. I really think they've managed to get it right this time. :) I can't wait for Part 2!

Hey there :D
Loved both parts. I must admit I cried all trhoughout the movie. Yeah, I'm a HUGE fan *__* But still, even though the movie ended in a great place, I didn't like the way it ended. I'm talking about part two. Really, it was not as deep as I had expected.
For those ones who don't know, I'm a spanish speaker. So I apologize for my bad english :S
Yeah that's true too. But yes, HP movies are really good. Of course, I hope they do too!

I agree that they ended it in a great place! Excellent!
The acting was supremely better than the first couple movies and the director did a fantastic job of making it dark enough to fit the book.
The "snogging" scene regarding the locket horcrux was alright for me, really. At first it seemed a little much because I view the characters as children in relation to myself but they really aren't. They're young adults... as is the series - for "young adults".
It wasn't supposed to be what they would/might do. It wasn't supposed to be what they WERE doing... it was the nightmare of a 17 year-old boy - the fear of his love choosing the best friend he'd always felt inferior to... and let's face it, for a boy at 17, sexual tension is a dream and (for those w/o experience in the matter) a nightmare at the same time. I think it fit. Rowling's fan base is broad enough and for the majority of her public, that scene was appropriate IMO.
