My Hunger Games Movie Soundtrack

Music can make a movie. It can set the scene, complete unspoken thoughts, and make you feel like the characters in a story. There has been a lot of discussion on the cast for The Hunger Games. Almost as important as the actors in the movie are the songs. What songs come to mind as you read the books? I have a few that came right away and some that I had to search for. This is my soundtrack. It is a work in progress and I will add to it as I hear awesome suggestions and as I hear fitting songs. Let the games begin.
The Whole Series Theme Song - Uprising, Muse
This is my pick for the whole series. It talks about rebellion. Perfect for the whole series. I also really like Butterflies and Hurricanes. They could use that specifically for The Hunger Games and I'd be happy. Muse is great at putting meaningful and interesting words to awesome music.

Katniss and Prim - Sister of Night, Depeche Mode
This song is perfect for Katniss and Prim. It can represent so many levels of their relationship and the story. It has to be the acoustic version. To make it more current it would be cool if someone like Paramore covered it. This version could also be left as is.

On the Train to the Games - Only Time, Enya
I like the remix of this song. I think it would be great music for the train ride to the Capital. This song is perfect when thinking about what's to come and realizing whatever it is there's nothing much you can do about some things except wait for them to happen.

Getting made up with the prep teams and pictures of the capitol
So one of my awesome readers named Shelia suggested this song. I had heard it, but I didn't know the lyrics. I think it's perfect for when Katniss and Peeta are being made up by their prep teams. They could show clips of that and just scenes of the Capitol and the people in the capitol. Good call Shelia!
Katniss training for the Games - Me Against the World, Simple Plan
Wow, the lyrics are so great for this movie. Really this song could apply to all the victors as they are training and preparing for the games. It will be interesting to see the Capital and the training center. I hope they don't cut too much out. The books aren't horrendously long.

Entering the Arena - I Love Playing With Fire, Joan Jett
This is for when Katniss and Peeta are entering the arena all lit up. I love the edginess of this song. This scene needs to be a little more up beat like, yeah we're gonna kick your butts!
" Acting tough with looks that kill. You got me going and I can't sit still."
Entering the Arena - Come Out and Play, Offspring
I love this song for the movie! It plays on the idea of children fighting and the animosity between the districts. Read the lyrics to this song. They are so relevant when you really think about the Games and what happens in them.
"Your never ending spree of death and violence and hate. Your gonna tie your own rope, tie your own roe, tie your rope."
Katniss and Peeta - Before the Dawn, Evanescence
This song could be used through out the movie for Katniss and Peeta. It's so sad and sweet. They could use it several places. In the cave, on the train, then they could do a reprise right before they're about to eat the berries. I can't find it on any of their albums. There was a site that said it was from a demo? It's a beautiful song though!

Peeta - The Scientist, Cold Play
Peeta
This song is for the end when Peeta figures out it was all a show for the cameras. Poor Peeta. It really show the complexity of the whole situation. He was trying to figure out how to play the game to save Katniss the whole time, and then he believed that everything between them was completely real only to be disappointed. I just love this song anyway though.

That is a really cool song. I always picture this scene to be more bitter sweet with a slower song. Hmmmm.......I really like that song though. I need to think about which scene I'd like it for. Thanks!
I thought of "Come Out And Play" by The Offspring for the Hunger Games movie too. :) I also think that Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2 (I believe Paramore also made a version of the song)would be perfect for the movie as a whole. Look it up if you haven't heard it. :)
A good song might be for a pessimist I'm pretty optimistic by Paramore and another thing the Joan Jett song I love playing with fire I love that song I first heard it when I watched the movie the runaways btw great movie when Kristen Stewart sang it and I liked her singing it it's my fav song in the whole movie but then I heard the original version and loved it it's awesome great picks oh and thanks for addin my song request!
Paramore is cool. That songs really good. It kinda fits. I'm not sure where though. Thanks for all the ideas. I love hearing new, good music. Well, new to me!

This can be the theme song of The Hunger Games Movie. When I first heard the song, I felt like being transported into the world of Panem,
where the pair of main protagonists, Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen right there standing on battlefield,
facing each other.
The lyrics, pop-techno futuristic tune really gets me into the mood of the romance of those two! Trust me..

Gaspard Ulliel may not be popular in Hollywood entertainment, but do not underestimate this dude acting ability. Almost flawless.
I have seen Gaspard in Hannibal Rising, he totally made me believe him as the character in the movie.
I seriously think Gary Ross should get Gaspard Ulliel into the movie as Gale Hawthorne. It turned the rivalry between Peeta and Gale more more and more exciting!

'We Are Broken', is like another version of Decode,
not punk pop though, but more emo and soul rock.
However, I can imagine Katniss(aka in my mind, Kaya Scodelario) on the entry's verse. She was laying in solitude in the middle of woods, check out the below lyrics>>>
Then, 'Your Arms like towers' is meant for Peeta(aka in my dream, Ryan Donowho (a Texas actor) - who is the protector of katniss.. (uhh, how touching)

That is a beautiful song! I think it would work well for Catching Fire when they're spending that day on the roof. Awesome choice!
I have two recomendations.
#1- therapy, by all time low
#2- Sick little games, all time low
I don't really know when they could be used but "#1" (in my opinion) would fit like a death, sad, or maybe hopeless part, IDK.

You have some really great song choices on here! You are soooo good at choosing songs that really fit. I can definitely imagine these songs somewhere in the Hunger Games movie! I really like Only Time, Me Against the World, Come Out and Play, and Uprising! They would work so well in the movie, it would be perfect! :) Great choices!

The URL is of a song apparently off District 9 and it's kinda of a sad song, which idk if it could be used but its good background. Check it out! I also think Bring Me To Life by Evanescence would be a great song to use as well. :) Here's a few more: In The End by Linkin Park, Numb by Linkin Park(GREAT GREAT SONG!), and Welcome To My Life by Simple Plan(not the best song to fit but it kinda does). I have another suggestion. Well idk if you've seen the show 24, but there's a lot of action scenes throughout the series and I mean A LOT. Well I looked up the tv shows music composer and he is a genius in making music, so I think he could really be helpful if he was the music composer for the Hunger Games Series. His name is Sean Callery.

"World Spins Madly On" by the Weepies. MUST be in the movie. Heard it first when I was reading the book. Every time I think of the scene in the cave with the weeping walls and Peeta and Katniss's quiet moment...this song runs through my head.
