Yes, that is the answer to the question in everyone's minds who know my articles well and have been following me. Yes, I missed my calling in life. I should have been a casting director. I love to speculate on who will be cast for upcoming movies y'all!!! If you've read The Maze Runner then you know how awesome this movie will be! I don't think it is a rumor. I think Christmas came early this year and they are actually going to film this puppy. If they make it half as crazy cool as the book, and if the books continue to rock, this could trump Twilight and maybe even The Hunger Games. If you haven't read the books....READ THEM. The shank that changed it all. As soon as I started reading Josh Hutcherson popped into my head. I really liked him in every movie I've seen him in. He has grown up a bit and I think this role will help him transition from kid star to a force to be reckoned with.
Alby
The leader of the pack. He needs to be a strong character and actor. I actually pictured a guy I graduated with for some reason, but he probably can't act so..... how about Brandon T. Jackson. Who? You know the goat man from Percy Jackson. I don't think he quite fit that role, but this one would be perfect!
Newt
Second in command and just a great guy. Everyone has been buggin' me (OK...maybe just a few of people) to cast Drako Malfoy in Hunger Games as various people, but this character was written for him y'all! Tall, blond, and British........... you know I'm right. I would also like to see Tom Felton as the good guy.
Chuck
The annoying little buddy. If you have seen Diary of a Wimpy Kid then you KNOW. This kid IS Chuck. He made that movie y'all, and he would rock this one as well. BTW.... I just wanted to tell you that my kids made me watch Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It was a bizarre, slightly disgusting show, but this kid cracks me up! Now, if Chunk from the Goonies was still alive (correction.....young.... LOL!) ....it'd be a whole new ball game!
Gally
Super creepy dude. Gally is the bad guy in a way. In some ways I feel sorry for him, you know what I mean? This was a struggle because who wants to be evil? I settled on this guy, Luke Pasqualino. Put some grease in his hair and there you go. Instant bad dude.
Minho
Running Man. I used to practice that dance. Some of you probably don't even know what that is. Yeah.... I'm getting old. So, who is this guy? Raise your hand if you know. That's right... it is the guy from Glee,Harry Shum Jr. He plays Mike Chang. I don't know that he has yet to have a speaking part on that show, but here's to hoping he can act as well as he can dance. I think he would be a great Minho.
Teressa
THE girl! Sooooo... here's the dealio. I know a lot of you people want to see Kaya as Katniss, but I am telling you, she fits this part waaaay better. Black hair, blue eyes, pale skin. I'm sorry y'all. This is the perfect role for her! If you haven't read these books you should because they rock just as much as Hunger Games, Twilight, etc. I will be updating this list as always as I read the second book and get to know some of the characters better. Remember, Wicked is good. ;)

hey, i finally finished the scorch trials it was so awesome i loved it! and i cant wait for the third book.
Ive read both books and find them amazing. I think that those are all great actors. But in my opinion is that in the movie the actors shoulds be people who arent known yet, or atleast not known very well. All the readers of the book have gotten there own images of the characters and if the characters are done by big stars people are gonna think back to there other roles vs new unknown actors who havent had a past.
The only two that i would change would be Thomas and Newt.
I actually think your choices for the cast are pretty dead on. Except for when I read both Maze Runner and Scorch Trials I visioned Newt differently. Brandon T. Jackson comes off as a comedian to me. I think the role should be a more serious actor. Also, Chuck I pictured him older. Other than that I LOVED your choices, especially Teresa, it was pretty accurate! I love this series! :)

i love the books so much. i just finnished reading them. although i didn't really imagine the characters looking like that at all, but i'm just glad that there making a movie can't wate it better big good. when do you think it'll come out?

Addie- This is another movie that could get really messed up if they don't follow the story line and pick a good cast! Unfortunately it's not up to the author. Once they give rights to their book to someone they have little say in anything. Stephenie Meyers was more involved than most authors are.

The actor for chucky is the exact actor i was thinking about while reading the book. haha I like the choices for Thomas and Newt, although I doubt tom felton will want to be part of another franchise =/ When I read the books, i pictured Alby as Michael B. Jordan, the guy who plays Vince in friday night lights. And for Teresa, I pictured Daveigh Chase =)
Oh and gally as the kid who plays Rodrick in diary of a wimpy kid lol

But it worries me now knowing that Catherine Hardwicke is the director. I mean, she's a great director but her style of directing doesn't fit an action packed story like the Maze Runner... Then again, she might surprise us all and actually make it epic aha
What?! Whoa! How did I miss that? Catherine Hardwicke is the director? Hmmmmmm.......that is really weird. I can't believe I didn't catch that!!! I really hope this will be her best movie ever! I actually think some of the things she did with Twilight were brilliant, some not so much. We'll see!!!!

Agree with all except Thomas the main character, now I am not sure who but too me Josh Hutcherson looks like too much of a whimp too play this role and I don't want to see in this movie.
Really? Hmmmm.... I actually have thought about another pick for him. I will be adding choices this list as I get more ideas. I personally think he'd be great in some ways, but I get what you're saying.
I have been following the Hunger Games cast list for a while now and saw you were making a cast list for this book too! I'm super excited for this book to become a movie (though I still think the Hunger Games are the best books EVER). I like your cast list except for Gally. That actor just doesn't look right to me. I think he needs sharper features.
Hey MissE, The chuck, Teresa, and Alby characters seem perfect, especially Chuck, but I think that Gally needs to look older and meeaner, well no tougher i guess i could say, Kind of like Dally in the OUtsiders movie. He would be perfect if only he were younger haha o well. I think that your tomas is a little to old for my likings but i wouldnt be against him, i guess I have made Thomas a young person in my mind than in real life..also doesnt newt have brown hair? I justcould see Draco as him...

Lauren - Yeah, I have a better Gally in mind now. It's just been so much keeping up with the Hunger Games page I haven't given this list any love lately. I have a lot more time to work on this one though.
Chewbacca23 - You think Thomas is younger? Hmmmm...IDK I think he's in his late teens. I'm also pretty such Newt has blond hair. The last time I checked up on this movie the author had said they are in discussions about it right now, but he can't talk about the details I will post when I find out more.

Yea oh and I found out that Newt does have blonde hair, but I guess I forgot beacuse the last time I read the book, I always pictured him with brown hair. I dont think he should have bleache blonde though.

I think there should be big names in this, but no Harry Potter or Twilight actors, even if they didn't have big parts because they have already had there fun for now, there still needs to be unkowns, just not a lot.

I cannot see Luke as Gally in any way, shape, or form. I was totally in love him on Skins. I actually pictured him as Thomas, although I like Josh Hutcherson as well. I think Kaya is perfect, but Emily Browing would be a good choice too. It's just an opinion. The rest of them matched up perfectly!
I have an alternate Gally that's even better. I just need to find time to update this one.

I just got Maze Runner a couple days ago and I'm only halfway through it, but I know it'd be a kickass movie and with most of your casting choices, it'd be AMAZING. Oddly enough, Josh is actually the closest person I've had in mind for Thomas. It just seems like a story that Josh would take on.
i was suprised at how much i agree with you! haha usually i have different people in mind but the only one i disagree with is gally i think he needs to have more rough edges. The boy for chuck is perfect! so little and cute yet could play annoying. haha. josh is perfecttt so cute but can play it tough tho too! i just finished scorch trials and immediately went to my library website to reserve then next only to find they don't have it yet! i about cried! i lovee her as teresa too! pictured almost exactly like that too! omg i am soo excited(:

agreed :/ i'm thinking logan lerman or chris maggolia as thomas, anna sophia robb as teresa or jodelle ferland, and wallace huo as minho. i have a feeling that whoever they choose i will agree with. the pictures in my head or more loose than from hunger games. and lotss of actors are interchangeable for these parts.

I think that you did a very good job with the character slection. all of them look very close to the people that i imagined in my head, the only one i am not a fan of is terresa i think she shoulf be more dirt blonde in stead of brunette.

Okay this cast is good except in Harry Potter, Drako Malfoy was mean and evil and Newt is completely different and i cant picture Drako as Newt! Also i think Kaya would be completely wrong for the part of Theresa and Katniss! but everyone else is perfect!!

I absolutely loved this book and am so glad that they r making a movie! I like the choices, especially Teresa but I think Alby should be more serious and Newt should be a little more laid back. Wut about Alex for Thomas, he has the perfect personality though he doesn't really look like him...
I think this is excellent and we are literally on the exact same page for Thomas, I thought josh too. I thought of "grover" for Alby a bit as well, but i still picture alby as a little more built. I adore your Gally! But i think that for Teresa, Twilight Eclipse's Jodelle Ferland is the best choice. Mainly because I see Kaya as too old.

I absolutely loved the maze runner! I think it's the best book I will ever and have ever read in my entire life! I think open casting is pretty cool. Harry Potter was huge before the movies started, so I think they didn't need as many bigger names. This movie needs a little more star power I think. I love the books of course, but not everyone has heard of them.

With Hardwicke being the director I think she will bring a great cast to the maze runner movie. I think that is the best thing she did for twilight. It's not the actors or Hardwickes fault the screenplay was so bad.
I picture lily Collins as a Teresa. I'm sure who ever is picked as Thomas , Hardwicke will find a good match for Teresa.

I've read the whole trilogy and loved it. I actually read the maze runner for a school summer readiing book and found out that there was more and read them but i heard this song called where we belong by thriving ivory and it is perfect. I love it and as soon as i heard it i thought of the maze runner.

Not going to lie, Josh Hutcherson was the first person that came to mind when I thought about casting for this movie. I think he would be awesome!! I was watching a youtube video about who they would like the cast to be and they put Logan Lerman down for the role of Thomas. I really like him as the part. I feel like he look more the right age even though him and Josh are the same age I think. Anywho, I like some of the casting you picked! I just finished this book yesterday and I can't wait to start the second! :D

PERSONALLY I THINK U DID A GREAT JOB PICKING THEM, ESPICALLY MINHO AND TERESSA. THE OTHERS ARE GOOD TO, LITTEL CURIOUS ABOUT TOM BEING NEWT. BUT WHO KNOWS COULD BE A GOOD FIT.
I just finshed the second book, it's on the same level as the hunger games to me. You never know whats hapening at the end of each page, casting is great, I can see them as the characters, but is draco going to want to do another book based movie? I also think that the move will never be as good as the books, just like the Hunger Games movie will not like the books, but I do see them as AMAZING, and am excited to see them as much I was excited to read them.
I think you have Gally wrong. He should be Newt and Gally should be someone more menacing.

i think that taylor lautner should be thomas, he can act really emotional expecially in abduction.plus he's really good at doing action movies like tom cruze. i think that gally should be played by roderick from diary of a wimpy kid. but ur choices r amazing, could totally picture them in my head.:)

I have to say I pictured newt younger like in there teens I think Minho should be different at first I thought it was good but he's not hot enough and I don't agree with the pick of Thomas isn't Thomas supposed to be scrawny well I've pictured him like that chuck is amazing theresa could be better but I imagine the cast way younger like 15- 19 year olds well thats my opinion also I love all the books! LOVE THEM ALL BUT i do NOT like Drako Malfoy as Newt. And it never said British accent it said "funny accent". But Drako Malfoy just doesn't fit. I always imaged Newt looking cute and this guy isn't that good looking.
This is an awful cast... Not only will josh be spitting money out of his butt after Hunger Games but everyone just seems to old.

*warning this message contains spoilers* now that no one can virtually scream at me for ruining their book i will get to my point. first i loved this series and have finished them all. second i want to yell at dashner for not lieing like most authors who say " its a trilogy" then come out with 5 books. if he did that id be happy. i just wanted to get this out there cause im not sure how others feel. but what anoyed me about the scorch trials and the death cure was thomas inability to forgive Teresa like what was that all about. they were so good together (fyi im a guy and not gay so me saying that should show how amzing the conections between them were). dont get me wrong brendas great and all but shes not teresa. sure teresa did some bad things by betraying him and all but then she said sorry about 1000 times and saved his life a couple times two. so why not move on and get over it just take her back and be happy. YOU SHANK! but no why would he, he now likes brenda though she will never be teresa but then its all better because teresa dies. oh wait that makes it worse becaus eright before that dashner starts hinting that thomas feeling for her are coming back. then she saves his life and she dies. which btw was the worst death ever it was like 2 sentences long and she was an important character. not to mention she was about to say something right before she died but thomas couldnt hear the last word becaus ehis friends pulled him away. im done now thx... oh and good that.
LOL! What a man! Tell us how you really feel. :) I agree with you though. I totally expected Thomas to end up with Teresa, but Dashner likes to change things around so you don't know what's coming. I also couldn't believe he wouldn't forgive her. She was always trying to help him and save him. I know that Dashner said it's a trilogy, but have you heard he's releasing a prequel? It's called The Kill Order and it comes out in August. Good that? :)

For Minho i don't think that guy fits the role i imagened a black guy not to be racist but i really want to see this movie because i loved the books soooooooooo much and so of course i want it to be perfect plessssssssssss take my description if you are making a movie.
So....I don't want to crush your dreams, but the author read this and posted it on his blog because it was so close to how he imagined the characters. Just sayin'. ;) However, I would be totally down with a Minho of any racial background as long as his personality is JUST like the book! :) I kind of like the idea of a black Minho.

Ohh, I just finished The Maze Runner, I know, I'm a little late, haha. I'm going to start on The Scorch Trials soon and hope it's equaly if not more gripping. I can't wait to find out who the actors will be, but I'd say these are really good picks and I hope all of the characters have close personalities. I hope Josh Hutcherson gets to be Thomas! I also hope Newt and Chuck who ever they might be will be just as funny and wity as in the book!

If Josh Hutcherson was Thomas, I dont really think that Chuck should be that kid. I expected him to be a close age to Josh.
Great choices,some people were saying that Logan Lerman could be a good Thomas, also Michael B. Jordan could be a good Alby, check them out. And I think that Kevin Jumba could be an awesome Minho, you can look him up on youtube.

In the middle of the third book, "The Death Cure" and have been reading it for four hours straight! AWESOME SERIES!!!! I would die a happy dudette if they made the series into movies! Love the cast, but I just have to say New is my FAVORITE character and I just I can't see Tom Felton as Newt. The guy's a good actor and all, (as a rather evil 'wizard' in a fantasy series) but I just dont see it. I don't know who my opinion for the actor would be but not Felton...

Hey so spoiler a bit not really but in the 3rd book it says Thomas is 15 or well hints that he is 15 I think it should be open casting call cause they should get people who were never famous to become famous in this movie. If you think about it this movie if made properly can be better than the hunger games and maybe Harry potter like the whole concept and the maze like slot of people from any age will like it!

I totally freaked when I found out there was a Korean guy in The Maze Runner. Let alone his name was Minho.
